The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) is the largest land animal on earth. An individual can live up to 70 years, weigh up to 6,350kg and will consume 136kg of food in a day. Females live in family herds and give birth to young once every 2 to 4 years, whilst males roam alone. Tusks are used to dig for food and water, and to strip bark from trees, and males use their tusks in battle. It's sad that every 15 minutes, one of these magnificent creatures is killed by poachers.
Vervet monkeys (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) are omnivores, so they eat a variety of plant and insect material. They live in troops of 10-20 individuals, and prefer to inhabit areas of acacia woodland, along streams. They are native to East and South Africa and predators include the Leopard and Eagle
